All the ones I looked at would have the Letter and a picture on the same side. I don't want my nephew to associate A for Apple, I want him to know A for the letter A, If you want what I just mentioned this is the card deck you want.
These flash cards are awesome. Pictures are on the back so there is nothing distracting from the lesson. You get a set of all capitals, all lower case, and a set with the word matching the picture (so three full sets of cards, all with the same picture on the back). You also get six solid color cards with the color name on the back. Highly recommend.
4/17/18. I SO wanted to like these cards. The cards themselves are great. They are excellent quality. They are 3x5 inches in size and they are pretty thick. Each letter of the alphabet comes with three cards. Example, for the letter A: Card 1) Red in color on the front with large letter "A", Card 2) Red in color on the front with small letter "a" Card 3) Red on the front with the word "apple". On the back of all of the "A" cards, the card has a white background and has the picture of an Apple on each. The same goes for each letter of the alphabet just in different colors on the front of the card and the corresponding animal/word for the letter on the back of card. This set also comes with six color flash cards (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple). The front side of the card is the color, the back of the card is white with the corresponding color spelled out. Now, why did I give it only 1 STAR? For two BIG reasons. Number 1, the "I" flashcard has Ice-cream. Ice-cream makes the long "i" sound. I'm a preschool teacher. And when you are teaching a child their letters, you always teach them the short vowel sounds first (Apple, Elephant, Indian, Octopus, Umbrella). Number 2 (and this one is the big mistake) , the "G" card has a Giraffe on it. It's cute, it is. However, "G" in giraffe makes the "J" sound, not the "G" sound. They should have used a picture of a Goat. I feel the company can easily fix this mistake. And, here are my suggestions. Please add in the short vowel cards as well as the long vowel cards. And, please correct the "G"/"giraffe" card. I will still use the correct cards in my class... I will just pull the incorrect ones out while teaching. These are great for my ESL classes. The cards are made from a sturdy cardboard and I like that there are three cards for each letter; capital letters, lower case letters and the written word for the picture on the front of the card. I also really like the color flashcards too. They are just a solid color which I find to be far less confusing for new English learners than cards with a colored object on them. If I had one complaint it would be about the pictures, some of them are not the most obvious choice for the letter and the pictures themselves on some cards are average at best. Best alphabet cards I bought so far.
I absolutely love these flash cards. I'm an online ESL teacher and these really come in handy when trying to teach the kids what letter it is and what sound. I also love the fact that there are pictures on the back of each card with an animal of the same letter sound. NICE! I love it and it really helps me in the online classroom.
I love these cards, but I took two stars away because of the three letters that made these cards less than perfect. I am teaching my 3 year old son letter recognition and letter sounds to get him ready for reading. I'm so disappointed to see the long /i/ sound for "Ii", the soft /g/ sound for "Gg" and the digraph /wh/ for "Ww." Come on! They couldn't put a cute picture of an iguana, goat and wagon??? I'm creating new cards to replace these which is another reason I took two stars away. The quality of the cards are great. They're colorful, nice size and not easy to fold with regular use. Other than what I've mentioned, these are great. My son had fun matching the cards together. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE correct these three letters.
Bought these for my 3 year old. I like that there are pictures on the back of every letter card. This helps so that she doesn't get too bored with letters. She is more interested in the pictures than the letter. Perfect mix. She can learn about an awesome looking picture and learn to recognize the alphabet at the same time. Included is lowercase, capital, spelling of entire word, and colors.
These were exactly what I was looking for, simple and basic alphabet cards. I want my child to learn the letters, not a picture that is associated with it, which seems to be how other cards are made. In addition to the alphabet you can also teach object recognition and colors. Highly recommend these flash cards.
