We chose this book to help my primary child with an assignment about Antarctica. This story really helped us to grasp the immensity of the task to travel across the continent, and also told us a lot about the area itself. It made the facts abouts Antarctica easy to understand ann enjoyable to read.I found the kindle format looked a bit odd at first, not having seen the physical book, I thought there was something wrong initially. But the story was right, nothing seems to be missing, and the style turned out to be easy for children to read.A really good read!
I purchased this book after taking a couple of photography classes from the gentleman who illustrated it. I found it to be a good read which was nicely illustrated even in my adult years. I passed it along to siblings with children and they all enjoyed it. It is a nice inspirational story with historical significance. Highly recommended.
Beautifully illustrated and inspiring picture book for reading aloud to elementary students, this is an alternative "explorer" story about two women who crossed Antarctica on skis not so long ago! Leaves a lot of information out that might've made it more interesting for older students to read independently.
Great to see this story about strong women in an historically male dominated arena. The paintings are beautifully done. And I love that there is a page at the end for the reader to draw their dream.
